Do I need experience to join CEV?Nope! All you need to be is a Cornell undergraduate and want to work on the team. We don't expect you to have any experience since CEV is all about learning and growing. As long as you are passionate and eager to learn, then that's all that we're looking for.
-
Can I still contribute as a freshman?Of course! As long as you are willing to learn, you will be a valuable member of CEV and make a huge impact on the team.
-
What is the time commitment?CEV members typically commit 9-12 hours per week to the team! Many members find it easy to reach this time commitment since it includes GBody, subteam meetings, and work sessions. Freshmen/transfers do not take CEV for credit during their first semester - that is solely dedicated to onboarding! For all following semesters, members usually take CEV for 3 credits.
-
How does the recruitment process work? Before sending in your application, you can connect with us at Project Team Fest, an info session, or during a coffee chat! After completing our application, you will hear from us regarding interview decisions. If you are selected for an interview, you will meet with 2-3 members of the subteam you applied to. The 30 min interview will consist of mostly behavioral questions, with a few technical “thinking” questions. There are no right answers, we just want to learn how you think!
-
What will my first semester on the team look like?Your very first semester on CEV will start with a robust onboarding process. You’ll meet members across subteams, participate in workshops, attend professional development/alumni panels, and more! Once familiarized with the team, you’ll work directly with your subteam lead to determine which project will align best with your interests.
